Is Upgrading My PC Overkill for My Gaming Needs?

I'm visually impaired, which means I need text significantly enlarged to avoid headaches, and I don't really notice small visual differences in graphics settings. However, I do appreciate the distinct look of ray tracing. Currently, I'm using a Ryzen 9 5900x CPU, a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU, AORUS DDR4 32 GB RAM, an X570 AORUS Elite motherboard, a GM34-CW monitor, a 1 TB SSD, and a 2 TB HDD. My setup runs decently, but my motherboard lacks TPM 2.0 for Windows 11, and the damaged monitor ports are a hassle.

I'm planning to build a new PC and considering pairing an RX 9070 or RTX 5070 Ti with the AMD 7800X3D. I've primarily used Nvidia, so I'm leaning towards the RX 9070 if the performance difference is minimal. For the motherboard, I'm looking at the Asus B850M TUF Gaming Plus Wi-Fi for its port options since I sometimes do drawing, but I'm also considering the cheaper Asus B850M AYW Gaming Wi-Fi, even though it has fewer ports.

My current RAM being DDR4 means I'll have to get new RAM, probably starting with 16 GB. I might add another TB SSD for extra storage since my current one is almost full.

For gaming, I usually play titles like Sims 4, Minecraft, various Gacha games, and I enjoy modding. I'm curious if my planned upgrades are excessive, especially since I don't play particularly intensive games or if I should reevaluate my whole build. Recommendations for a different CPU option would also be appreciated!

It's true that your PC is faster than a PS5, so unless you're itching to play more demanding games with heavy graphics demands, you might not need a major upgrade. Just keep an eye on the VRAM if you decide to install high-resolution mods. Otherwise, you could save some cash and still enjoy your games without upgrading just yet.

Good to know! I think I might hold off for a bit then, thanks!

Honestly, your current setup is already pretty solid. The Ryzen 9 5900X paired with the RTX 3070 Ti should handle your gaming needs, especially at 1080p. Given your preferences and the games you play, you might not need a high-end upgrade unless you really want those ray tracing features. If you're comfortable sticking with your current rig for now, it might make sense to wait and see if prices for components drop later.
