Is Upgrading My PC Worth $700?

I'm currently using an HP PC with a Ryzen 5 1600 processor, RX 580 8GB graphics card, 12GB of RAM, and a 1TB HDD. I'm considering an upgrade for $700, which would include a Ryzen 5 9600X, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 256GB SSD, a Gamidas Aura GC1 Elite case, an ASUS TUF Gaming B650 Plus WiFi motherboard, and an MSI 650W power supply. Eventually, I plan to buy an RX 9060XT 16GB, but for now, I'll stick with my RX 580. My main question is whether this upgrade is worth the investment.

This build looks pretty good, but I have a couple of tips. While ASUS makes solid motherboards, their pricing can be high. You might want to check out other brands like MSI, Sapphire, or ASRock for better deals. Also, go for a 500GB SSD if possible. Games are getting bigger, and a 256GB SSD fills up fast, especially with Windows on it!

Thanks for the suggestion! I wish I could get a 500GB SSD, but around here, it's way more expensive. I’ll definitely consider those other motherboards, though!

It sounds like a solid upgrade! Just keep in mind that without the RX 9060XT, you might not see a huge performance boost in gaming right away. The SSD will definitely help with loading times, though!

True, but that SSD upgrade will be a game-changer overall. Plus, CPU-bound games will definitely benefit from the new 9600X and the extra RAM. I’d say it’s worth it!

Yeah, I feel you. With current prices, it's tough to justify spending that much. Sometimes it feels better to save for a while and get something really awesome.
