Is Upgrading to 5700X3D Worth It for My New Build?

I just got a great deal on a PC build from a coworker: a 6800XT, Ryzen 5 5600, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD all for $375. I'm planning to run it on a 1440p, 144Hz monitor. My question is whether I should stick with the 5600 or upgrade to the 5700X3D, or even consider moving to the AM5 platform altogether. Is there any risk of bottlenecking with my current setup?

That's an incredible deal! For 1440p with max settings, the 5600 should hold up just fine. If you're into competitive gaming and prefer to lower the graphics settings, then yeah, going for the 5700X3D could give you a nice FPS boost.

Honestly, the 5600 isn’t bad at all! If you do consider upgrading, the 5700X3D will be a good way to wait for AM6 before further upgrades. It's comparable to a 7600, but just double-check eBay for better prices as they can be a bit steep at around $250 right now.

The 5700X3D would definitely be a solid option for a few years unless you're aiming for more cores down the road.

I can’t believe you got all that for $375! Bottlenecking shouldn’t be a big issue at 1440p; it might only pop up in some specific games. Just a heads up, though: if you’re really close with your coworker, make sure everything works alright since that price is super low! There’s a chance the GPU alone could fetch around that price used.

Yeah, we've been working together for a while, and he’s been going through a tough time.
