Hey everyone! I'm seriously thinking about upgrading from my Ryzen 5 5600 non-X CPU to something a bit more powerful, like the 7800X3D, which I can get for around $350. My motherboard is pretty dated (a Gigabyte A320), so I know I'll need to upgrade that too since it won't support any CPUs above the 5000 series. I play a lot of competitive shooter games that are CPU intensive, and although my RX6700XT might bottleneck the 7800X3D, I'm chasing better FPS. Also, my RAM is just a single 16GB HyperX stick running at 2400 MHz, so I'm likely looking to upgrade that as well. I'm curious if investing in this high-end CPU would really pay off in terms of future-proofing and improving performance, or if there's a better route I should consider. Thanks in advance for your advice!

If you're ready to swap out the motherboard and RAM, then go for the 7800X3D! You'll definitely notice a significant performance boost compared to the 5600. Just keep in mind you'll need to ensure everything is compatible after the upgrade.
