Is Upgrading to a GeForce RTX 5050 Worth It for Gaming?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my setup to improve performance in Path of Exile. Right now, I'm struggling with seriously low frame rates, sometimes hitting single digits even on the lowest settings. I'm wondering if a GeForce RTX 5050 8GB would be a good upgrade for my current rig, or if I should consider other parts as well. Here's what I have:

- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (6x 3.40GHz)
- ASRock B450M Pro4 motherboard
- 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (2x 8GB)
- GeForce GT 1030
- 350 Watt Antec VP350P Non-Modular PSU

Also, will the new graphics card work fine in my PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, considering it has PCIe 5.0 x8? And is 3cm of space from the GPU cooler to my case wall sufficient for airflow?

Upgrading to the RTX 5050 will definitely be a huge improvement over your GT 1030, even if your CPU might hold it back a little. Just keep in mind, you'll probably want to upgrade your other components, especially the power supply. A 350W PSU from 2011 might not handle the new card very well. Have you checked if it has the necessary 8-pin connector?

Yeah, the VP350P likely doesn’t have an 8-pin, maybe a 6-pin if you’re lucky, but I wouldn’t risk it.

Honestly, if you're aiming for 1080p gaming over the next few years, consider going for the RTX 5060 instead. It’s a bit pricier, but you'll get better performance and better resale value down the line. Also, videos out there suggest the 5060 can have some issues on PCIe 3.0, so that’s something to look out for if you go that route!
