Hey everyone! I've got an i5 6500 and I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU to a GTX 1070 with 8GB of VRAM. I'm planning to buy a used one since I'm on a budget. I've seen benchmarks showing that this combo can run most games at around 60fps, even the more demanding AAA titles. Some reviews even suggest that the GTX 1070 outperforms the GTX 1660 Super and doesn't bottleneck too much with my i5. Is this a good choice for mid-range gaming?

I run a similar setup with a 6600k and a GTX 1070. It's a mixed bag; games released before 2022 are generally fine, often around 60fps on medium to high settings. Just watch out for CPU-heavy titles like Starfield—it can be a bit of a mess due to CPU spikes. If you have more questions, feel free to ask!
This setup is decent, but don't expect to handle every modern game smoothly. The i5 6500 has only 4 cores, which can be a serious limit for CPU-heavy titles, leading to stuttering. While the GTX 1070 is pretty fast, it might struggle with newer hardware requirements.
While it won’t dominate the newest games, it will work well for most older games at 1080p on low settings. Just don't plan on hitting high settings for the latest releases!
You might be okay with titles from a few years back, but keep in mind that in 2025, even demanding AAA titles from 2018 might not run well. Bottlenecks aren't a huge issue with older components, so definitely check out some YouTube benchmarks for real performance insights.
Would upgrading to 16GB of RAM help improve performance, or should I just save for a CPU upgrade later on?
