Hey everyone! I'm a total beginner when it comes to PCs, so bear with me. I recently got a home PC for college and want to use it for gaming too. Here's what I have: an Intel Core i5-8500 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a NVIDIA NVS 810 graphics card. I'm thinking about upgrading to a GTX 970 since it seems affordable and should help me play the games I want. My dad mentioned I might need a better monitor, but I have a Samsung C27F390FHR curved 1080p monitor, which I believe is fine for this upgrade. Can anyone confirm if this setup is good and if the GTX 970 is a good choice? Thanks!

Your monitor will work just fine with a GTX 970. However, keep in mind that the 970 is quite dated now. For a bit more investment, you might want to consider getting a GTX 2060. It's around the same price, offers better performance, and will still receive driver updates for newer games. Your CPU is capable enough to handle this upgrade nicely!
Great choice on the monitor! It should pair nicely with a GTX 970 without any issues. Just make sure to check on things like potential bottlenecking with your CPU. It might be worth investing a little more for a newer card, though, as they can handle newer games better.
Honestly, the GTX 970 isn’t worth it at this point—it’s over a decade old. You should look into getting at least a GTX 1660 Super or ideally the RTX 2060 Super. They’re just much better options for gaming and should fit well with your setup.
