I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 9600x for Minecraft, and while it's been solid, I'm starting to experience high temperatures and have to dial down some settings. I'm running a heavy modpack with over 400 mods and using distant horizons at a low CPU impact setting, so I'm looking for better performance. I've been eyeing the Ryzen 7 9700x, which is priced around $299—about $100 more than what I paid for the 9600x. From what I've gathered, it offers lower temps. Is the upgrade worth it?

What are your temps looking like? And what's your cooler setup? Honestly, I don’t think moving from a 9600x to a 9700x is gonna make a noticeable difference. If you're looking for a real upgrade, aim for an X3D chip like the 7800x3d or 9800x3d. They’ll give you a serious boost!
If you're looking to upgrade from the 9600x, I'd suggest looking at the 7800x3d instead of the 9700x. It's a more logical step up in performance.

My peaks are around 65-80 degrees. I used to have a 120mm fan cooler, but I got a 360mm AIO cooler recently. I’m worried about the 7800x3d needing too much power. My lights flicker when I'm gaming with the PC and the heater on!
