Is Upgrading to AM5 Worth the Budget?

I'm considering an upgrade and can't decide between getting an AMD Ryzen 5700X3D or jumping to the AM5 platform. I currently have a decent setup with a 2080 Super and I'm coming from an Intel i7 9700K. I already have RAM and an AM4 motherboard, so the 5700X3D would just cost me about £240, plus I'd need a cooler. Upgrading to 32GB of RAM would bring the total to around £300. On the other hand, switching to AM5 could cost me around £400-500, which seems a bit steep unless I can find a better deal. Also, since I'm moving from Intel to AMD, will I have to reinstall Windows? I'm looking for some opinions on how to approach this!

If AM5 is out of your budget, I'd stick with AM4 for now. Your current combo with the Ryzen 5700X3D is still solid. Plus, the CPU drivers will take care of themselves when you boot the BIOS, so no need to worry about that! Just focus on getting that cooler and swapping parts.

Cool, thanks! Just out of curiosity, what would be the cheapest yet good AM5 setup in your opinion?
