Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a 7800 XT, and I have the opportunity to grab a used AMD 5800X3D for $300 CAD. I'm wondering if this is a good upgrade for me. What do you think? Any advice or experiences with this CPU would be really appreciated! Thanks!

It all hinges on what a new 5700X3D costs these days or how much you'd spend on an R5 7600 and the associated upgrades. Some people find the total upgrades might be more worthwhile!
I've got a 5800X3D and a 5700X3D in different builds. They still hold up well in most games, and while $300 CAD is a bit steep, it's not terrible for a discontinued CPU. Just consider that you could grab a 7600, which is comparable to AM5, for around $250 CAD new. If you find a 5700X3D cheaper, I'd say go for that instead!
Yeah, I also plan on skipping AM5. The 5700X3D performs really well!
But be aware, the 5700X3D isn't necessarily cheaper right now.
Totally worth it! At 1440p, the 5800X3D performs just 9% worse than the 9800X3D, and even better at 4K. If the CPU is in good shape, $300 CAD is a great price!
But really, it’s a tiny performance bump—like a 5-10% gain in 1440p.
Performance really varies by game; some show much better improvement with the 5800X3D than others.
Good question! The 5800X3D is slightly faster than the 5700X3D, but usually, the price difference isn't justified. Both CPUs would be a significant step up from the 3600, so think about whether the extra cash for the 5800X3D is worth it for you.
I've seen the 5700X3D going for around $400 CAD on Amazon, so snagging the 5800X3D for $300 CAD seems like a good deal!
I've found the 5700X3D for about $391 online, so I’d definitely consider the 5800X3D at that price.
Honestly, if you trust the condition of this 5800X3D, I'd say go for it! I upgraded from a 3600 to the 5800X3D and it made a noticeable difference in performance. Just keep an eye on the seller!
A new 5700X3D is about $390 CAD, so getting a 5800X3D for $300 is tempting.
