Is Upgrading to an i7-14700k Worth It with DDR4?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my current setup and I'm considering a new Intel i7-14700k processor. Right now, I have an i5-11400 paired with 32GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM and a recently purchased 5070ti graphics card. Since the prices for DDR5 are pretty outrageous, I was thinking about getting a TUF Z790 motherboard and using my existing DDR4 RAM with the new CPU. I primarily play CPU-intensive games like Escape from Tarkov and Battlefield 6. I noticed that going for an AM5 setup with a 7800x3d and 32GB would set me back about $420 more. Do you think upgrading to the i7 is a good move and worth saving that $400?

Honestly, Tarkov can be rough even on a 7800x3d. While you might gain some FPS in Battlefield 6 with the newer CPUs, it might not be enough to justify the extra $400 unless you're looking for top-tier performance.

Upgrading to the 14700k will give you a solid boost, especially in gaming. But if Tarkov is your focus, the X3D series processors are actually better for it. Ultimately, it's up to you. Consider if you can later resell your DDR4 kit if you decide to go DDR5 in the future.

Yeah, I think the $420 difference isn't really justifiable for a small performance bump, especially if you're not playing competitively.
