I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC, specifically starting with the graphics card. Currently, my specs are: an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, a B350 PC MATE motherboard, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, a Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB, and 32 GB of RAM. A friend suggested I go for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, but I wanted to see if that's really a good plan or if there are other components I should consider upgrading as well. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

If you're looking to upgrade your setup, I think the graphics card and SSD are your best bets for now. A new GPU will directly impact your gaming performance. Keep in mind though, if you decide to upgrade your CPU in the future, you will need a new motherboard and RAM to match, so plan this all out carefully! It really depends on what games you play and how much performance you need.
What’s your budget like? If you're considering a CPU upgrade, something like the Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 5700X would be a significant improvement. For RAM, look into some DDR4 3200MHz CL16. As for the GPU, while the 5070 is decent, I’d suggest saving some cash and getting an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or the RX 9060XT 16GB instead. They’ll offer a solid performance boost over your GTX 1070 and let you pocket some extra money for future upgrades.
Honestly, going for the RTX 5070 might be overkill right now since you're keeping your current CPU and motherboard. I’d recommend considering the RX 9060XT 16GB instead. It’s got a full x16 PCIe connection, which is beneficial for performance, and it’s a great value for the money. Plus, it should last a few years. Just remember, if you upgrade your GPU, you'll likely need to change your CPU and motherboard sooner rather than later, so don't overspend on the GPU right now.
Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely check out the 9060XT. If I do need to upgrade my motherboard and CPU later, any recommendations for those?
The x16 connection is key since your current motherboard is on PCIe Gen 3, which is much slower than Gen 5. If you only use 8 lanes, it can hurt the GPU's performance.

Appreciate the tips! My budget is around 1500€.
