Is Upgrading to an RTX 5070 a Good Move with an i5-11400F?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my GPU from an RTX 3050 to an RTX 5070. I have a couple of questions: First, do you think the RTX 5070 will pair well with my i5-11400F CPU, or should I look at also upgrading the CPU? Second, I'm using a microATX motherboard and an MSI MAG Vampiric 100R case; will the triple-fan RTX 5070 fit in there?

It should work fine! I had an i5-11600k paired with a 4070ti, and it performed well. So your setup with the 5070 should be okay too.

The RTX 5070 is a bit of a wild card. Are you gaming at 1440p? It'd help to know what games you play before deciding.

Yes, I mostly game at 1440p with a mix of older and newer titles. What would be your recommended alternative?

Make sure to check that the card fits in your case, which has a maximum GPU length of 300mm. Also, with a lower power draw, a two-fan model might actually suffice, letting you crank those graphics settings up!

For sure, a two-fan option could be a better fit. Just keep in mind that over time you'll want to upgrade that CPU too.

You might hit a bottleneck with the i5-11400F, meaning you won't fully utilize the RTX 5070's potential. But yes, it will physically fit on your motherboard. Just make sure your case can accommodate it; some models might be a better fit than others.

Just a heads up, the bottleneck issue might be overstated. The i5-11400F can perform pretty well, like 110fps in many games, provided you're not into ray tracing.

If you can snag the RTX 5070 for $570 or less, go for it! Just be wary of the potential bottleneck with your CPU. If you're considering saving up for future upgrades, a 3080ti or 4070 Super might also be a smart choice.

It'll definitely work! But if you're open to suggestions, the 9070 might offer better overall performance and more VRAM.

I've mostly stuck with NVIDIA, but I'm open to considering AMD now.

Honestly, it could be smarter to look at something like the 9060xt or 5060ti. The performance gap isn't worth the price of the 5070, especially since the bottleneck may reduce its effectiveness.
