I'm curious about whether using AI tools to help me learn programming is a good idea. As a first-year IT student, I've been studying Java fundamentals through W3 Schools and solving problems on my own. After practicing, I sometimes turn to AI for help with simple problems or to understand mistakes I've made. However, I've come across opinions suggesting that relying on AI isn't beneficial for learning. I'm looking for tips on how to balance AI usage while mastering programming concepts.

AI can be a great help when you're starting out with programming! Just remember, there are tons of resources online like courses and articles that can also guide you, so don’t hesitate to explore those when you need a bit of extra assistance.

Using AI can definitely be the next step for you! It seems like you're on your way to building up the skills necessary to tackle problems independently. Just remember that while some people advise against using AI, it's really about how you use it. Many struggle with the idea of using AI, but incorporating it wisely can really enhance your learning experience!

If you’re already aware of the risks of over-relying on AI, I suggest trying to solve problems without it whenever possible. You want to build your problem-solving skills. If you let AI do too much, you might find yourself unsure of how to tackle similar challenges later on. Take advantage of your first year to experiment and learn the ropes before deciding how much AI help you really need.

That makes sense! It’s probably better to strengthen my skills first and then use AI for specific guidance as needed.

I think it's a fantastic approach! Just make sure you don't skip the hard parts—spending time solving problems without help is crucial. That's how you really learn and grow as a programmer. It's a part of the journey that many great programmers have gone through!
