I'm self-taught and completely new to programming, specifically JavaScript and DOM manipulation. I'm trying to figure out when it's beneficial to watch YouTube tutorials. I'm not looking for specific guides on creating things but rather just learning the concepts. Is it okay to watch tutorials for this purpose? My approach involves watching a tutorial, seeing how to do something, and then creating something simple related to that. I'm also curious about when I should rely on videos versus reading documentation. Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't see anything wrong with your approach. Why do you feel uncertain about it? You won't memorize everything anyway, and real learning happens when you apply what you're seeing to your own projects. It’s similar to math—watching the teacher solve a problem seems easy, but when you face a slightly different problem, that’s when the real learning kicks in! Just be sure to adapt the tutorials to your own work and try new things.
You're on the right track by trying to apply what you learn instead of just copying. But don't forget to check the documentation too! It can give you a deeper understanding of concepts that tutorials might gloss over.
As long as you're creating something, you'll be fine! It's like the difference between just watching someone play with a toy and actually getting your hands on it and playing yourself. Get into it and make stuff!

That makes sense! I guess balancing tutorials and docs is key. Thanks!
