Is Web Development Still Relevant Today?

I'm a beginner learning web development and I've noticed that AI tools have changed the landscape dramatically over the last couple of years. Back then, it was a struggle just to connect a database to a server, but now you can just type a prompt and an AI takes care of it. My concern is, will web development endure, especially for junior or intern positions? I'm not sure how to navigate the vast resources available, and even though I can connect databases and write some frontend and backend code, I'm looking for guidance on how to improve and secure a job in this competitive market. Here are my skills: React, JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, MongoDB, Tailwind, and Bootstrap.

Just remember, while AI can assist in coding, it can't replicate the experience and problem-solving ability of a real developer. Use it to your advantage but also take the time to learn and understand the fundamentals yourself. That's what will really help you in the long run!

It might be tougher for beginners since AI is handling a lot of basic coding now. But, it can't replace the planning and architectural skills that senior developers bring. I wouldn't say to give up on becoming a junior developer, but know that you'll need someone experienced to guide AI-generated code to maintain quality. Don't be discouraged—keep learning!

So what can I do to improve my chances as a recent grad trying to get noticed in tech?

Web development isn't dead! It's just evolving quickly. AI helps streamline the coding process, but projects still require human insight to ensure quality and maintainability. Companies still value developers who can debug and refactor code—so focus on building real projects and showing your problem-solving skills.

In short, no, web dev isn't going away anytime soon. It is just going to require a shift in how we work together with AI to make things efficient. Network as much as you can, share your projects, and keep enhancing your skills—those things matter more than ever before.

Honestly, I don't see AI wiping out web development. It's an incredibly useful tool that requires human oversight, and writing quality code involves much more than just syntax. Understanding the processes behind the code will set you apart from the crowd. Keep learning, and embrace AI as a collaborative tool!
