Is Your Documentation Just a Mess of Old Files Too?

I'm really frustrated with the way our documentation is organized—or rather, disorganized! We claim to have a 'centralized documentation' system, but it's more like a disaster scattered across three SharePoints, outdated PowerPoints, and a chaotic Excel file that I swear is a crime scene. When auditors come around, I waste countless hours trying to figure out which file is the 'actual' one that I need. Is there anyone out there using a tool that can just **index** all these scattered links and make sure their owners confirm the information is up-to-date? I don't want to relocate the files; I just want a reliable 'Dashboard of Truth' that tells me what's still valid. Am I asking for too much?

I totally feel your pain! We rely on Confluence for documentation. Our technical writer creates all our SOPs, which helps keep everything in one place and pretty standardized. It’s not perfect, but at least we have one primary spot for everything.

You nailed it! Most tools end up just being prettier dead ends unless you keep them maintained. I'm looking into how teams our size tackle the documentation mess without resorting to a full SharePoint migration. What do you do when you need 'The Truth' for audits—force everything into one wiki, or perhaps use something like PowerPoint for a visual overview?
