I've been struggling to get Windows installed on my external SSD using WinNTSetup after my internal SSD in my HP Omen system failed. It seems HP cleverly placed it under the GPU, making replacement tricky. I thought to use my external SSD to avoid buying a new internal one. However, despite following guides and making several attempts, I can't get the system to recognize the external drive. Is there an alternative method or program that might work better? Thanks for any insights!

It sounds like you're trying to do a Windows To Go installation, which is technically unsupported on external drives. You might want to consider disassembling your computer and replacing that faulty SSD instead. It could save you a lot of headache in the long run.
I attempted Rufus but couldn't get it to work with an external device, and I had no luck with Ventoy either.
Have you tried using Rufus? There's a quick guide available online that can help. Just keep in mind that it’ll be slower than using an internal SSD. Unless you absolutely need Windows on an external drive, you might be better off with an internal replacement.
