I recently bought a MacBook Pro 16" in 2023, fully loaded with 32GB RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and the highest spec chip—totaling around $3500. I've barely used it, mostly treating it like a desktop. However, just a year after the purchase, a large vertical line has appeared on the screen, along with some pixelation elsewhere on the display. When I reached out to customer support, they told me fixing it would cost $870 for a screen replacement, which only comes with a 90-day warranty. This makes me really hesitant, as I could be facing another hefty bill in just a few months. I've tried explaining how unreasonable this seems, especially since it's a defective product, but I haven't gotten anywhere. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or have any advice?

Without AppleCare+, you're pretty much stuck. If you're open to it, you can look into third-party repair shops, but I know some people have mixed feelings about that.
