I've been using a custom PC build for a couple of years now, and I've gone through three motherboards: the B650 MSI Edge WiFi, Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX Ice, and now the ASUS ROG X670-A Gaming WiFi. I've encountered the same problem with all of them—whenever I try to enable EXPO (Extended Profiles for Overclocking), sometimes my PC boots into Windows just fine, but other times it gets stuck with a DRAM light on. When I turn off EXPO or just keep the memory speed at the default 4800 MT/s, everything works perfectly. I've updated the BIOS on all three boards, and the Gigabyte board was especially troublesome, shutting down on me at least twice a day. It sounds like keeping EXPO off might be the way to go for now. The stability of RAM with EXPO profiles isn't always as straightforward as some tech YouTubers suggest. I've faced similar issues since DDR2, and I'm about to upgrade to DDR5 myself; I might still run into problems with EXPO. Just take it easy until you find a setup that works for you!
Sounds like your memory controller might not be the best quality; it's often a case of the silicon lottery. Some chips just don’t perform as well as others, which can lead to these weird stability issues with memory.
