Issues with Dell Latitude 3320 Laptops – Anyone Experienced Similar Failures?

I'm supporting a client who has several Dell Latitude 3320 laptops purchased around 2022, and we've been encountering some strange issues. In February 2026, one of the laptops wouldn't turn on despite trying different power adapters and performing a hard shutdown. I managed to get it to boot by disconnecting and reconnecting the internal battery, but shortly after, other laptops started having problems too.

One laptop failed to boot, while two others kept crashing or acting up in odd ways, with one losing all the printers I had set up. After running MemTest86 on the ones that were crashing, I found significant memory errors. Interestingly, the laptop that had printer issues is now crashing similarly to the others. We're replacing the failing units, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced similar problems with the Latitude 3320. The issues seem tied to the motherboard, possibly heat-related, which reminds me of past issues with certain components. Any insights?

Laptops from that time had notoriously poor build quality. Given the comments about the manufacturing issues during the COVID years, it seems plausible that this batch is suffering from those flaws. It's unfortunate but not surprising.

True, there's a lot to consider when it comes to device quality from manufacturers during that time. It's a shame they ended up with these.

These laptops are entry-level models from over 5 years ago, so it's not entirely surprising to see them starting to fail. Honestly, if you have one of these, expect some hardware issues as time goes on. It's concerning that multiple units of the same model are failing around the same time; that raises some red flags about their reliability, for sure!

I agree, they're definitely entry-level, but you'd think they should last longer than just four years without running into big problems, right? It's really odd that so many are failing simultaneously. That's what makes this situation intriguing.

This reminds me of when I dealt with a batch of Dell Optiplexes with failing motherboard capacitors. We ended up replacing every single one, but luckily they were still under warranty. If your client wants longevity, they might need to consider investing in higher-quality models. Looking back, they could have saved money in the long run by opting for better equipment initially!

They actually got these before I started working with them, but I've been recommending higher-end machines since then. We're switching to MacBook Airs now, which should provide a much better experience and longer lifespan.

Honestly, it just sounds like standard Dell issues from that era. It's pretty typical for laptops to start seeing problems as they age, especially ones that are as old as these. It all adds up to what you'd expect from a four-year-old device.

I agree, but in my experience of over 30 years, I've never seen a batch of the same model fail so quickly together. It's definitely a strange situation!
