Issues with HP EliteOne 870 G9 AIO: Mouse Moves but Can’t Click

I've got a batch of HP EliteOne 870 G9 All-in-Ones, and I'm running into a frustrating issue where about 25% of them have a problem where the mouse moves but I'm unable to click anything. This glitch even happens when I use remote access on the machine. The only workaround I've found is to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and then select cancel, which only offers a temporary fix. I've tried everything from updating the BIOS and Windows to switching out the mouse and trying different ports, but nothing has worked so far. This issue is seriously hampering productivity, with the mouse failing every 1-5 minutes. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Here are a few things you could try: 1. Use USB 2.0 ports instead of USB 3.0 for the mice—those are usually more compatible. 2. Experiment with different wired mice until you find one that works reliably. 3. Boot into a Linux 'live distro' and see if the problem persists there; use `dmesg` to check USB logs for any errors. 4. If nothing else works, reaching out to tech support might be your last resort.

I tried plugging them into all ports, and it happens everywhere so I feel like that's not the main issue, especially since it persists even when remote. I've been using various wired mice but haven’t tried wireless ones yet. I'll give Linux a shot next. As for tech support, let’s just say I've had some less-than-stellar experiences with HP's support!

Are you using Bluetooth or wired connections for the mouse? Also, have you checked the event viewer for any errors or warnings? That could give you more insight into what's going wrong.

I'm using wired mice. Any tips on which event viewer logs I should be looking at?

Have you thought about doing a clean reload of the systems? Sometimes starting fresh can help clear up stubborn issues like this one.

I think we might have done that, but I’ll double-check with the techs to see if they reloaded and if the issue persisted.
