Issues With Update KB5058411 Causing BSODs After Upgrades?

I ran some updates over the weekend, and everything seemed normal until this morning when a few users started experiencing Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) when they logged in. After digging into it with Action1, I noticed that the update KB5058411 for 24H2 might be the culprit. I uninstalled it on one user's PC, and that seemed to fix the issue. Once I did the same on the others, the BSOD problem went away. Interestingly, all the affected users had their systems upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via in-place upgrades rather than clean installs. Meanwhile, others who received the update with clean installs of Windows 11 haven't reported any BSOD issues. Has anyone else encountered this problem, or do you have any advice?

So far, I've upgraded three machines that were in-place upgraded, and they didn't have any issues. I also use Action1, so I understand where you’re coming from. I wonder if the BSODs might be happening when certain applications, like Zoom, are open, considering KB5058411 addresses something related to the microphone.

That's interesting! I'll take note of that since we do have Zoom running often.

Yeah, this is exactly why I’m not a fan of in-place upgrades. They leave too much baggage from the old OS behind and can cause issues later.

Agreed! I recently learned that the hard way as well.
