I'm having a major problem after installing Windows Update KB5068861 on multiple laptops running Windows 11 24H2 that are connected to my domain. Since the update, the search function for files on our network shares, which are hosted on a Windows Server 2019 file server, has become nearly unusable. Specifically, it takes an extremely long time to search through shared folders, the results are sparse and often not relevant, and in many instances, the search doesn't yield any results at all. To give you some context, the laptops are joined to an Active Directory domain, and there are no issues with connectivity, DNS, or authentication. There haven't been any recent changes that could affect the search functionality. The only fix I've found is uninstalling KB5068861, which restores normal operation. I also faced issues during the installation and uninstallation of this update on devices with Windows Sandbox enabled, but everything went smoothly after I disabled Sandbox. Has anyone else encountered these issues with KB5068861?

I haven't experienced this issue with my setup using Windows 11 25H2 and a 2019 file server, but I should note that we haven’t updated the server side yet.
I'm having the same problem! After installing KB5068861, my searches only return file names and completely miss the content in the files that match the search terms.
While I get that it might seem minor, search issues like this can really disrupt things in a business where file sharing is critical.
I can confirm! It seems like there's a significant problem affecting the search functionality for indexed files on shares with this update.

Exactly! In a business environment, especially with heavy file sharing, this isn't a minor problem at all.
