Hey everyone! A few months ago, I shared about passing the AZ-900. Now I've successfully completed the AZ-104 with a score of 700, and I'm feeling both relieved and excited! I'm currently at a pivotal point in my career and would love some advice from those who have been in my shoes. My goal is to secure a position as an Azure Cloud Engineer or a junior DevOps Engineer. Here's a bit about my background: I'm working as an EUC Engineer/System Administrator at NTT Data in London. My daily responsibilities involve managing Microsoft 365 and Azure IaaS, application deployment using Intune, enforcing compliance policies, and troubleshooting devices. I have experience with Azure, Intune, and a variety of scripting and automation tools like Terraform and Azure DevOps. Outside of work, I create personal labs to expand my skills in Terraform and infrastructure automation. I'm really keen to shift fully into a cloud-based role, so any advice or insights you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Congrats! I'm curious, what resources did you use to prepare for AZ-104, and how long did it take you after passing AZ-900?
If possible, look into cross-training at your current job using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). It could really boost your chances, as roles in DevOps will typically require some experience in IaC.
Awesome job! Have you discussed your career aspirations with your current employer? Often, they appreciate when employees seek growth and there might be pathways for advancement right where you are.
Absolutely! I’ve already spoken with my managers about my goals, and I've even been taking on Azure-related tasks.
Make sure to also hone your Bicep skills alongside Terraform. You're in a good position to transition, but keep in mind that the job market is pretty competitive right now. Contracting could be a way to get experience, but just remember to budget carefully for potential downtime between jobs.
Or you might want to consider focusing just on Terraform!
Congrats on passing your exams! I'm following a similar path. I just completed AZ-900 and I'm currently studying for AZ-104. I'm also a senior system admin looking to break into cloud engineering. It seems tough to find the right opportunities, but I'm hopeful that once I pass AZ-104, things will open up.
Definitely! Just keep pushing forward after AZ-104, and new opportunities will come your way!

I passed AZ-104 around May last year. I used a YouTube playlist from Microsoft as my main resource.
