Linux Boot Issues on Lenovo Legion Pro 5i After Updates

Hey everyone! I recently switched back to Linux from Windows 11, and I'm having a bit of a problem with my Lenovo Legion Pro 5i. After doing fresh installs of both Linux Mint and Ubuntu, everything works smoothly as long as I don't update the systems. Once I install the proprietary Nvidia drivers and run a full system update, I encounter issues. On Linux Mint, I get a couple of error messages about ucsi_acpi not working, and on Ubuntu, the system just hangs on boot. I've checked that nothing's plugged into USB-C, my BIOS is updated, and I've tried blacklisting with no success. Has anyone experienced this issue or have any suggestions?

You might want to check out Nobara or GLF OS. These distributions come with built-in driver tools that could potentially handle the installation better than generic distros. It’s worth a shot if you're still stuck!

It sounds like you're experiencing some compatibility issues with recent updates. I've heard from others that there might be conflicts particularly after a Mesa update. It might help to check the forums for any official responses or workarounds. Also, have you tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers after the updates? That sometimes helps resolve boot issues after major system updates.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into reinstalling the drivers after the updates.

It could also be worth checking the UEFI/BIOS settings for any power management features that might interfere with booting. Sometimes toggling the secure boot or fast boot options can make a difference. Let me know if that helps!

Good idea! I'll check those settings and see what I can adjust. Thanks!
