I'm currently working as a game developer with Unreal Engine 5, and I've grown frustrated with Windows. It seems too bloated and full of unwanted background processes and ads. Most of my development work is done in Visual Studio Community and VS Code, and I also game on Steam and some other platforms like Ubisoft Connect and EA App. I'm curious whether these platforms work well on Linux, and if switching to Linux would require a lot of configuration to get everything running smoothly. Also, I've heard about issues with Fivem for GTA V—any thoughts on that?

Totally agree with going for Linux! The gaming experience has been surprisingly good, plus Neovim is a great text editor option if you’re into that. Most games are really playable, especially those on Steam. Just keep in mind that while many titles work out of the box, some from other platforms might require extra setup. From my experience, things like GOG games play well using tools like Heroic.
If you're considering making the switch, check out some resources first! There's a lot of support available online, like guides and FAQs. Just remember to back up your stuff regularly and try things out in a virtual machine if you're unsure. It's a bit of learning curve, but many find it rewarding! Just make sure to dig into commands before running them to avoid any mishaps.
I switched to Linux a while back and have been really happy with it. I’m using a tiling window manager and everything, including my Steam library, runs great. Just a heads up, if your game dev projects are in Unity, I can't say much about Unreal, but Unity runs decently, albeit a bit buggy as usual. If most of your games are on Steam, you should be fine, but non-Steam games might need a little more work to get set up.
