Long-time Windows User Ready to Switch to Linux – Need Your Advice!

Hey everyone! I'm a long-time Windows user since the days of Windows 3.1, but I'm finally determined to make a full switch to Linux. I've dabbled with various distros in the past, but I've always ended up going back to Windows whenever I hit any bumps in the road. Now, I'm about to completely wipe Windows from my system and install Linux as my only operating system. I want to make sure I choose a stable distro and desktop environment (DE) that won't give me constant headaches. I'm okay with minor cosmetic issues, but I don't want to deal with kernel compiling, crashes, or boot failures. I've already tried Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, Zorin, Arch, and Cachy, but faced issues like display problems, random reboots, and freezes. Here are my specs: CPU: 5600X, GPU: 5700XT, RAM: 16GB. I'd really appreciate any suggestions from you Linux experts!

I get where you're coming from! What exactly were the issues with the distros you tried? Sometimes, problems like boot failures can be related to Windows messing with your bootloader if you were dual booting. If you want something that typically runs smoothly, check out Bluefin – it's designed to be extremely stable but relies on Flatpak for apps, which is something to keep in mind.

I've used both Nobara and Cachy before, and they’ve both worked well for me. Nobara had some repo issues a while back but solved them quickly. Cachy with its BTRFS snapshots makes rolling back easy if something goes wrong. Just be prepared for some adjustment as you transition from Windows.

It sounds like you've gone through some of the more popular options already. If those didn't work for you, you might want to try some newer distros like Ultramarine Linux or Nobara. They could offer a fresh experience along with solid support. Solus is another good choice if you're looking for something tried and true.
