Looking for a budget-friendly PC build for gaming

I'm planning to build a new PC for my girlfriend because her current one really struggles with games like Valorant, League of Legends, and even Minecraft. Her current specs are an Intel i7-870 (2.93GHz) with 12GB DDR3 RAM, and I want a new setup that can run at least those games at 60 fps on low settings in Full HD. Is it possible to find or build a PC within a budget of 500 euros that meets these requirements?

Unfortunately, building a brand new PC for 500 euros is pretty tough these days. Lots of prices are rising, especially for RAM and GPUs. I'd suggest looking in the used market; you can score a decent system with good specs there. Just be sure to test the system before purchasing to avoid any problems later.

You’re entering a challenging market, but if you shop smart, 500 euros can get you a decent used setup. Look for an AM4 platform with an AMD Ryzen 5xxx series CPU and at least 16GB DDR4 RAM. Pair that with a 3060 or 4060 GPU, and you should be golden! Just keep in mind that systems vary widely in price depending on your location.

Absolutely, you can build something decent! The key is in choosing the right parts. If you're in Europe and face high import fees, consider going for a Xeon 2011-3 setup with a good GPU. Otherwise, an AM4 build with a recent CPU is a great option. It all depends on where you're buying your parts from to compare the best deals.

Before you go all out on a new build, do you know what GPU is currently in her system? The i7-870 is pretty outdated, but an upgrade to a stronger GPU might just give her PC the boost it needs for now. If that works, it could save you some time until you’re ready to do a full build later.

If you’re up for building, I recommend going with DDR4 and aiming for 16GB. For the CPU, the LGA1700 socket is popular right now—an i5-12600KF is a solid choice. For the GPU, you might find an RTX 3060 Ti or a similar card for under 300 euros. Both will have no trouble running those games! Just remember to check local prices for the best deals.
