Looking for a Cross-Platform Tool for BIOS and Firmware Updates

I'm searching for a tool that can handle BIOS and firmware updates across different hardware vendors on both Windows and Linux systems. I'm aware that BIOS updates can sometimes cause issues with BitLocker encryption, so ideally, I'd like to avoid those complications. I've tried using 'fwupdmgr', but it seems to have a limited vendor range. Is there an open-source solution out there, or any reliable multi-vendor tool that fits this description?

On Windows, you're definitely covered by Windows Update. However, for Linux, I'm not sure if there’s an equivalent that offers similar functionality for BIOS updates.

Windows Update does a decent job of managing BIOS and firmware updates, especially if you use Intune to control when versions are deployed. It works pretty well for us!

Tools like Patch My PC might fit your needs. Personally, I prefer to create a dynamic group for each device brand/model and manually manage drivers with batch scripts in Intune. This way, I control everything and only need to update my driver bundle yearly. Also, a quick tip: if BitLocker is a concern, you can temporarily suspend it for two reboots, and then it usually enables again without issue!

Just a heads up, Patch My PC doesn’t actually handle BIOS or firmware updates, just software.
