Hey everyone! I've been struggling to find the best solution for receiving alerts from my AWS setup. I've got CloudWatch and SSM monitoring my EC2 instances for CPU, memory, and disk usage, and while the alerting part works, I'm not happy with how I'm getting notified. SMS is just too expensive in the long run, and emails often get overlooked. What I really want is a pager-style app for Android that can receive push notifications from AWS via an HTTP/HTTPS API—something that's loud and impossible to ignore, like a siren. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a free and reliable app that works well with AWS alarms? Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to check out PagerDuty! They have a free tier that allows for up to 5 users and 100 alerts a month, which might fit your needs perfectly.
I've been using Pushover for some of my smaller projects to send push notifications to my mobile without resorting to SMS. Just a heads-up though, it’s not free—it's around $4.99 for personal use and $5 per user per month for larger teams. But it could be worth it if you're looking for something reliable.
I suggest looking into ilert or PagerDuty; both of them offer free plans along with solid integrations for AWS. They could provide the alerts you need without breaking the bank.
Have you thought about using Slack? You can easily set up a free Slack account, then integrate AWS Chatbot to forward CloudWatch alarms to a channel. You can customize the notifications to alert you on your phone, which could be a good solution.
