Hey everyone! I'm not super experienced with PC building and components, so I was hoping to get some guidance here. Currently, I have an RTX 2060 Super which is serving me well, but I want to upgrade my gaming setup to play at 2K resolution with 100+ FPS. I'm not too concerned about the graphics settings—I just want smooth gameplay at that resolution. I've been considering the AMD RX 7900 GRE since it's more affordable, but I'd love to know if it's a good option and if it's future-proof—especially since I've got a Ryzen 5 7500F CPU. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I use an RX 6700 XT with a 2K 165Hz monitor, and I regularly get over 100 FPS in most games. It’s a solid choice if you're looking for high performance at that resolution!
You might also want to consider newer models like the 5070 or 9070 if they're available. They offer better value in Australia right now compared to the 7900 GRE. Just remember, second-hand options can be overpriced, so be cautious!
The price of the 7900 GRE really matters—compare it to other cards on the market. What games are you planning to play? Do you care about ray tracing? If you're mainly into multiplayer FPS games like Warzone and don’t mind medium/low graphics settings, you should get a steady 100+ FPS. Just keep in mind that it might not be the best future-proof option depending on your gaming preferences.
It all comes down to the price for the GRE. If it's a good deal, it’s a decent GPU for 1440p gaming at high FPS. Just make sure you weigh your options against other models available.
The RX 7900 GRE is a solid option and should meet your needs at medium settings. You'll likely reach or exceed 100 FPS in many of the games you mentioned, especially if you play at 1440p. It also allows for some overclocking if you're willing to tweak it a bit, which can help boost performance down the line.
For sure! I'm focused on games like Battlefield and Elden Ring mainly, and I hardly use ray tracing because it slows down my gameplay too much. If the deal is good, then it sounds like a win!
