Looking for a KVM Switch with Ports Only on the Back

I'm trying to share a keyboard and mouse between two computers—a laptop and a desktop. Normally, KVM switches are designed with connections at the back for PCs and at the front for peripherals, which creates a mess in my setup since all my cables run from the back. Does anyone know if there's a KVM switch where all the connections, including the peripherals, are at the back? If not, what other alternatives do I have? I'm trying to avoid having to crawl behind my PC to connect and disconnect cables all the time.

Have you considered software solutions like Synergy or Barrier? They let you use your mouse and keyboard over the network without any physical switches, which could help keep your desk tidy!

I wonder about input lag with those. Plus, I bet setting up a server for that could be pricier than just getting a regular switch.

Just curious, how often do you really need to switch? You mentioned connecting your PCs 'every time'—is that literally multiple times a day?

Yeah, it can be 2-4 times a day. Crawling behind the PC is annoying, especially since I have to untangle the keyboard and mouse cables.

You could also just use USB extension cables and set them up somewhere easily accessible on your desk. I don't even bother with a KVM; swapping the cables or dongles takes me like 15 seconds—super quick!

That's a smart approach! I was worried about cable management, but it sounds like a cheaper and cleaner option.

If you're just looking to share a keyboard and mouse, consider using a USB switcher instead. You can hide it anywhere you want, leaving just a small button on your desk to toggle between your laptop and PC. This way, you won't have cable clutter all over the place! Check out something like this [link](https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Computers-Sharing-Switcher-Keyboard/dp/B0C8MSP967).

I was looking at that UGREEN switch too! But it's a bit tricky since the cables have to be plugged in at an awkward angle, which could lead to damage. Just a heads-up!

Have you seen this one? [link](https://www.store.level1techs.com/products/p/14-kvm-switch-dual-monitor-2computer-z5erd-n6mbj) It has two ports on the back for a keyboard and mouse, though it comes with some extra ports up front. Might be worth a look!

That looks functional but seems like overkill for what I'm needing—both in terms of features and price.
