I'm dealing with a really slow Windows 8.1 installation on my PC, and I'm considering switching to a lightweight Linux OS that works well on 32-bit systems. Here are my specs: 1GB of RAM, an Intel Atom D525 CPU running at 1.80GHz, and that's about it. Any recommendations? Thanks for your help!

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could try the latest 64-bit versions of Debian or Fedora. Just a warning though, it'll still run slowly!
You might want to try MX Linux, but with only 1GB of RAM, it's going to be a struggle, especially for web browsing. Just an FYI!
Debian Bullseye still has a 32-bit release if you want to go that route. Trixie and Alpine are worth looking into as they also support 32-bit architecture.
For your setup, AntiX Linux is a solid choice. Someone I know installed it with similar specs and was happy with the performance. It’s designed to use less memory than others. Puppy Linux is another great lightweight option. If you can expand your RAM, that would really help with performance and give you more choices. Also, think about replacing your hard drive with an SSD if possible; it can make a noticeable difference!
I would suggest checking out AntiX or Bodhi Linux. Just a heads up, 32-bit support is rapidly declining with many browsers dropping it altogether, so that's something to consider.
