Looking for a Monitor that Matches My MacBook Air’s Display Quality

Hey folks! I've been using my MacBook Air M1 for a couple of years and I'm really impressed with its display. Recently, I built a PC for work and for binge-watching movies at night. I started off with the Samsung Odyssey G5 (VA), but honestly, the viewing experience was so disappointing compared to my MacBook that I sold it. Now I'm on the lookout for a monitor that can deliver a display quality closer to what my MacBook offers. Any suggestions?

You might want to check out OLDE or QD-OLED screens! They usually offer really high-quality visuals. Just a heads up, your MacBook has an IPS screen, but OLEDs can provide even better performance.

How does the sharpness and PPI compare between those options?

Good call on getting rid of that VA panel G5; it’s not the best out there. For displays, remember that a 1600p resolution on a 13" monitor is super dense, and even a 4K at 27" isn’t as high in PPI as your MacBook. You're on the right path thinking about the display quality that really matters.

I get that, but I'm not sure how to replicate that clarity and experience.

Your MacBook has an IPS screen, which is great for overall performance and brightness—even in brighter environments. There are tons of monitor choices out there, so it can be overwhelming. If possible, visit a store to see them in action before buying. I'm currently using the AOC Agon PRO AG274QG IPS monitor, and it's fantastic. Just keep in mind that if you're watching movies in a dark setting, OLED could be the way to go since they have deeper blacks. IPS is better if your room is well-lit, as OLEDs can appear dimmer in those conditions.
