Looking for a New Motherboard to Upgrade for Windows 11

I'm trying to upgrade my current setup and move to Windows 11, but I need to replace my B460M motherboard first. I have an Intel i7-10700 CPU, and I want to find a new motherboard that has an LGA 1200 socket and supports DDR4 RAM to avoid extra costs. Any recommendations for a good affordable motherboard?

What motherboard are you currently using? Just a heads up, there aren't any LGA 1200 motherboards that are compatible with anything other than DDR4 RAM, so you’re covered there!

I have an ASRock B460M Steel Legend that was gifted to me a few years ago, but I didn’t get around to upgrading until recently.

Honestly, the Intel 10th Gen CPUs and their motherboards are pretty much out of production. The performance gains you might get from upgrading your motherboard probably won't be worth it, unless you can score a used board for a great deal. If you're keen on upgrading, you might want to consider a new CPU too, as that would make more of a difference.

Ah, I see! It wasn't really a bottlenecking issue as I thought; I'm just looking for a way to update to Windows 11, and the motherboard seemed like the hurdle.

It's definitely unusual to say your current motherboard is bottlenecking your CPU. Generally, as long as the VRMs are functioning well, the motherboard shouldn't be a bottleneck. The main differences across motherboards typically relate to features like connectivity options or extra USB ports.

Sorry, I should clarify — I updated my post mentioning that it's not really a bottlenecking issue!

I'm curious about how exactly your motherboard is bottlenecking your CPU. Usually, you should think about a new motherboard if you need more I/O or expansion slots. Upgrading the motherboard won't yield significant performance improvements; that budget might be better spent on a GPU or CPU instead.

Sorry, I updated my question to say it wasn't a bottlenecking issue after all!
