I'm on the hunt for a Linux distribution that resembles the old-school charm of Windows XP, especially one that can run on 256-512 MB of RAM. I'm particularly interested in finding a user-friendly option that supports games made with the Unity Engine. While I've come across plenty of lightweight distros, like Alpine Linux, they seem quite challenging for a newbie like me to install and use effectively. Anyone have suggestions?

What kind of games are you looking to play? Even lightweight distros can struggle with RAM if the games are demanding. Unity games became popular when most PCs had around 2GB of RAM, so it might be tight. You might also need to run Windows versions of some games via Proton, instead of relying solely on Linux support.
AntiX or Puppy Linux could be solid choices for you. Both are lightweight and should work relatively well within your RAM limits. Just curious, what's your actual RAM?

I have 8GB of DDR3. The games I play on Windows, like HOI4, really gobble up a lot of RAM.
