Looking for Advice on Building a Powerful Gaming PC

I've gamed exclusively on consoles, starting from Sega all the way to the PS5. I did have a Steam Deck but had to sell it due to financial reasons. Now that I'm in a better spot financially, I'm eager to build a gaming PC that can outperform the upcoming PS6 and provide better graphics than the PS5. I'd like to play AAA titles at max settings, or close to it, but I'm unsure what specs I should aim for. Is a 4090 the right choice, or would something like a 5070 serve me better? If I can find a 5090 or an i9 for a reasonable cost, I'm open to that as well, but I want to make sure I'm making the best investment without just going for the highest number. Also, how do I know if I'm getting a good deal? I'm looking for insights primarily for gaming, with maybe some job applications on the side.

From what you're describing, it seems like a 9800x3D paired with a 5070 Ti would work well within your budget. Interestingly, RAM and SSD prices have leveled off quite a bit; you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a solid set-up. Just make sure you don't skimp on the power supply. If your goal is to beat the PS5, you should have enough headroom for future titles as well!

I totally agree! My setup absolutely blows my PS5 out of the water, and I made sure it was worth the investment!

For playing AAA games on max settings, I'd recommend considering a Ryzen 7 9800x3D or a Ryzen 7 7800x3D for the CPU. For the GPU, options like the 4070 Ti Super, 5070 Ti, or even the 5080 would be great choices. Make sure to get a solid PSU around 1000w for reliability. As for RAM, 32GB (2x16GB) will do you well, and a fast SSD like the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB would really help with load times. If you're looking at monitors, a 1440p display with a 150hz refresh rate will provide an awesome gaming experience. Just keep your budget in mind, as these builds can vary widely based on what you want to spend.

Sounds like a solid plan! Just remember, a 4K monitor can be pretty demanding; even a 5080 might struggle at max settings without DLSS in some games.
