Looking for Advice on My Ryzen Upgrade Build

I'm planning to upgrade my PC and want to keep some of my existing parts. I already have the case, video card, and power supply. Ideally, I'd like a case with front USB-C ports if anyone has recommendations. My budget is around $1500, and I'll primarily be using the PC for gaming and photo editing (Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One). Here's what I'm currently looking at:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core ($699.00)
- **CPU Cooler:** Noctua NH-D15 ($139.94)
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM5 ($209.99)
- **Memory:** G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 ($249.99)
- **Storage:** Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 4 TB NVME SSD ($269.99)
- **Video Card:** EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3080 10GB ($899.99)
- **Case:** Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower ($109.99)
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM850x 850 W 80+ Gold Certified ($198.98)

I'm wondering if I should go for an AIO cooler or stick with the Noctua, and if there are any parts I should swap out. Let me know what you think!

If you're looking to save some cash, consider switching the CPU cooler to a Thermalright Phantom Spirit. It delivers comparable performance to the Noctua D15 but is about $100 cheaper. Just a thought! Your other components look solid, though!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I've gotta agree with the idea of changing that CPU cooler! A Thermalright dual tower can perform similarly and save you some bucks. Plus, if you're using RGB RAM, the RK120 design won't block any slots, which is a bonus! Also, you might want to check out the 'neo' version of those RAM sticks at 6000MHz CL30; they’re a great fit.

Good point! I think I'll lean towards that option.

Honestly, I think the 9950X3D might be overkill for your usage, especially for photo editing. You could go with the 9800X3D instead. It provides a slight edge for gaming but performs about the same in photo editing tasks. And skip the AIO; the D15 will do just fine and be more reliable!

That's a solid perspective. Thanks for the input! I’m currently on an i7-8700K.
