I'm trying to build a PC on a budget but still want decent performance. Here's what I have planned so far:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor - around $368.99
- **CPU Cooler**: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition - about $25.99 (still need to check this)
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX ATX AM5 - $139.99 confirmed
- **Memory**: Crucial Pro Overclocking 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 - about $369.99
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_BLACK SN7100 1 TB NVME - around $179.99
- **GPU**: PNY OC GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB - $629.99 (only found at Best Buy)
- **PC Case**: NZXT H6 Flow ATC Mid Tower - $99.97
- **PSU**: Corsair CXM 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular (price TBD, need suggestions)
- **OS**: Microsoft Windows 11 Home - about $119.99
I'm somewhat on a tight budget and aiming for a total build cost between $1800 and $1900. Are there any alternatives for the PSU or other cost-saving tips anyone can share with me? I'm open to learning, so any advice is appreciated!

Check out PSU tier lists online. For your setup, aim for at least a B-tier PSU. It's worth investing in something solid. Also, reduce costs by considering SSDs with less speed or buying only 16GB of RAM now, then upgrading later if needed.
When it comes to PSUs, don't skimp on quality. Stick to reliable brands and aim for at least a Bronze certification. Cutting corners here can lead to issues like system instability or even damaging your components!
Thanks for the input! I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Seriously, don't cut corners on the PSU. It's one of the most critical parts of your build. You might want to invest more in it because a good PSU can last through multiple builds and comes with warranties. A sturdy PSU can save you from headaches down the line!
Totally agree with you! My current build has a solid PSU, and I've faced no issues after many upgrades.
If you're in the US and near a Microcenter, check out their combo deals. They sometimes have the Ryzen 7800X3D paired with other components for a decent price. Also, try Newegg for similar deals. Just double-check they’re available in your area before making the trip.
Good to know! I have to drive about an hour to the nearest Microcenter, so I hope they have those deals.
For your build, I recommend the Montech Century II 850W Gold. It's a great fit for most gaming rigs and affordable too!
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll look into that.

Thanks for explaining! I had no idea that SSDs could be overkill for some builds.
