Looking for Alternatives to Adobe Acrobat for PDF Editing and Signing

I've been a loyal user of Adobe Acrobat for years, but after multiple price hikes and frustrating UI changes, I've reached my breaking point. Lately, it's been super slow and I'm fed up—I'm paying around $30 a month just to view and edit basic PDF documents, and now it freezes for 5 to 10 seconds whenever I try to do anything, even with small files. I've tried disabling a bunch of features, repairing the app, and it's still not working well.

I'm really just looking for a program that can help me combine, edit, and sign PDFs. I've heard mentions of PDF-XChange and Foxit. Anyone have experience with these or recommendations for other alternatives?

PDFgear has been a game-changer for us—it has great editing features and runs smoothly.

We use it here too, and it's been working well!

PDF-XChange Editor has solid features, but the interface is a bit outdated. If you want something more modern, NitroPDF might be worth checking out too.

I really like PDF-XChange too!

Nitro Pro is solid. It's a bit pricey upfront, but it can save you money over Adobe's monthly fees.

Foxit Reader is pretty good for basic tasks, but if you need full editing power, their Foxit PDF Pro editor covers everything but definitely costs more.

Thanks for the heads up on that! I'm definitely going to look into Foxit.

I've been using PDFgear, and I find it pretty impressive. It covers everything I need for PDF handling and has surprised me with its features. Just curious though, how much does it cost?

Is there a catch to how fully featured it is? I've noticed the performance is pretty good.

If you're seeking a reliable option, I’d recommend trying PDF-XChange Pro. Many users find it user-friendly and it looks a lot like MS Word. Plus, it's lightweight and handles everything we needed from Adobe. How some people still put up with Adobe is beyond me!

Did you ever think about reinstalling Acrobat? Just wondering in case that might help.
