I'm considering moving away from Mimecast Cloud Integrated. While I like some aspects of the product, the support has been really lacking. They often make changes to my account without notifying me and don't respond to support requests. Even though I pay for 'Advanced Support,' it frequently feels like they're failing to meet the service level agreement. My account manager is also pretty much absent. There's a significant delay when rerouting emails from Exchange to Mimecast and back to Exchange. Before I dive deeper into customizing Mimecast, what are some good alternatives? We operate entirely in a Microsoft 365 environment. Any users with experience in Proofpoint or Barracuda? I'm primarily after solid support, cost isn't a major concern.

We've noticed a decline in Mimecast’s support over time too, and a lot of our clients have the same experience. The 'advanced support' tier doesn’t seem to provide the same level of service it used to. For M365 environments, I’d suggest checking out Proofpoint and Abnormal Security. Proofpoint generally offers solid support if you're subscribed to a decent tier, while Abnormal Security is interesting because it integrates via API instead of inline MX routing, which might help with the delays you’re experiencing. Barracuda is decent, but it feels like they're always playing catch-up.
For general email security, I recommend looking at modern API-based applications like Avanan. I'm not totally sure if the Mimecast product you're considering has other features beyond basic email security, but from what I've seen, API solutions are really effective.
I've been using Proofpoint Enterprise for about 8 years, and I just renewed for another 3 years. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with both the product and the support, even though I'm a bit bummed they removed chat support recently.
We use KnowBe4's Defend and PhishER, and so far, it's been great!
Avanan has been a game changer for us! It's so much better than Proofpoint Essentials. Even KnowBe4 is doing a better job of filtering phish compared to what Proofpoint was letting through. Plus, our consulting MSP switched from Mimecast to Avanan, which says a lot!
