Hey everyone! I've been using Linux as my main operating system for a while now, but I'm in dire need of a portable laptop for work and casual use. I'm really hoping to find a 2-in-1 or traditional laptop that plays well with Linux and won't break the bank—specifically under £350. My main tasks will include writing, web browsing, and music composition. I've had an older Microsoft Surface that has become a pain to use with Linux, limited mostly to Ubuntu, but I'm more a fan of Arch or Fedora-based distros. If anyone has recommendations for a budget-friendly machine that can handle streaming YouTube and basic tasks smoothly, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Check out the Free Geek eBay store! They usually have a bunch of affordable refurbished laptops that come preloaded with Linux. Plus, it's a great cause to support.
ThinkPads are a solid choice! There are models that are usually pretty affordable and work well with various Linux distros. You can often find good deals on used ones.
Just a tip: when asking for help, be sure to mention your preferred distro and any issues you’ve had with hardware. It helps others give you more tailored advice!
You should also look for old business-class laptops like Dell Latitude or Precision models on eBay. I've been using a Latitude and a Precision, and they’re fantastic for running Linux, plus they’re within your price range.

Yeah, I’ve heard ThinkPads have excellent Linux support. Definitely worth considering!
