Looking for an Updated Task List for Aspiring Linux Engineers

I'm searching for a modern equivalent of IConrad's Linux task list. The original list generated a lot of interest, but the most recent version I found is five years old and references several outdated solutions. You can check out the original task list here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxadmin/s/Ng2iLRaY3h. I want to know if there's anything more recent out there that outlines very specific, real-world tasks, as opposed to the usual tutorials that many IT self-training resources offer. Any suggestions?

The original task list is solid! If I were hiring, I’d feel confident bringing someone on board who could tackle all the tasks there. However, we should consider a few updates:
- Change CentOS versions 5, 6, and 7 to Rocky versions 8 and 9.
- Instead of Puppet, Ansible is the way to go these days.
- For Spacewalk, consider Foreman or Uyuni.
- When it comes to LDAP, maybe swap it for FreeIPA or Keycloak.

Also, it’s worth noting that there are no tasks related to containers or cloud technologies, which a Linux admin will definitely need to know about nowadays. The current list seems quite focused on the Red Hat ecosystem, which is significant for those working primarily in enterprise environments.

Honestly, if you can handle the other tasks, working with containers just feels like managing smaller pieces of Linux. If you can deal with LDAP and similar services, Docker's quirks won't surprise you too much.

Totally agree! Most enterprise Linux admins typically focus on Red Hat, so it makes sense that the list is oriented that way. My experience has been similar; we use mostly RHEL and Rocky, with a few Ubuntu servers thrown in for specific applications. I'd also recommend adding Kubernetes because it's gaining traction along with OpenShift.
