Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for budget-friendly backup solutions for my business's VMware servers. We have 4 servers total, including one SQL server, and our total data sits around 2TB. I'm aiming for full backups weekly and incremental backups either daily or every other day. We've been using Datto through our current managed service provider, but we're parting ways next month. I've heard some recommendations like Commvault, Imperius, Unitrends, and others, but I'd love to hear what you think. Are there any options you recommend or ones I should definitely steer clear of? Thanks so much!

Don't overlook Nakivo if you’re looking for something that works well with ESXi. I’ve heard good things, and they offer a free tier for up to 10 VMs too! Plus, there's Commvault that covers M365 well, especially with MS Entra ID in their recent updates.
Commvault is really robust, but just be careful if they try to upsell you on features you don’t need.
Axcient is worth checking out. It has a straightforward interface and can manage off-site backups. You might also want to look into Rubrik—many folks swear by it, although it’s pricier.
If you're serious about VMware, Veeam's interface is user-friendly and it covers it all. Commvault is more comprehensive but can be a bit complex. I recommend trying Synology Active Backup because it’s an all-in-one solution without any recurring licensing fees.
Just make sure to think about offsite backups too, like using cloud storage as a secondary option.
Exactly! We’ve had a great experience with Active Backup as well.
Consider using a Synology setup. We utilize it for our VMware, Netapp shares, and even for backup of our M365 and Google Workspace. It’s pretty cost-effective too! Plus, it has Active Backup for Business that makes everything easier.
I use Synology at my company as well, and it works really well for us!
Yeah, their new backup appliances are pretty neat if you're looking for something with more features.
Veeam is definitely a solid choice! It handles everything you need, including O365 backups, and I've seen clients your size have great success with it. The recovery process is also really straightforward.
I second Veeam! It's been our go-to for years, and the ease of managing backups is fantastic.
Just be cautious with their pricing for O365, it’s a bit on the high side with some features.
Yeah, Nakivo is a great solution! Works like a charm on our end.
