Looking for Bitnami Alternatives After Broadcom’s Changes

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with Broadcom ruining things lately. After VMware's crazy licensing changes, now it looks like Bitnami is putting everything behind a paywall. I used their Helm charts for Kafka and Elasticsearch in a small work cluster, and it feels like a real letdown after all the contributions from the community. Since there's no way we're paying for that, I need to find some alternatives. Has anyone forked Bitnami's repositories or found open source Helm charts that are comparable but without the corporate strings attached? Ideally, I'd like something that's actively maintained and straightforward to use.

Honestly, just stick with the original charts. Broadcom invested a lot, and it makes sense for them to want to recoup that investment. Not much surprise here.

For Elasticsearch, consider using the Operator from Elastic. It's a bit different from the standard charts but very feature-rich and robust. Might be worth a look!

Totally feel you on this! It’s really frustrating seeing good tools locked behind paywalls. I’ve been looking into Minimus for replacements. Their Helm charts are lightweight, open source, and the community around them is pretty active. I haven't fully tested them with Elasticsearch yet, but I'm hopeful. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!

Check out Artifact Hub; it has plenty of good options for Helm charts. You might find some great alternatives there!
