I'm currently an Automation Engineer with about 4 years of experience in QA and automation at a fintech company. I've found myself at a crossroads and need some guidance on my future career path. I'm considering either diving into a development role, which I've always been interested in but never had the chance to pursue due to family reasons, or aiming for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position. I'm aware that my current salary of around 8-10 LPA feels low for my experience, and even my teammates affirm that I'm good at what I do. Since I'm the main breadwinner for my family, this decision is crucial for me. Any advice from you all would be greatly appreciated!

I can relate! I have about 4 years of experience switching from PL/SQL to Python. It's a challenging but rewarding journey. Don’t hesitate to take that step if you believe in it!
Take a leap of faith! Life can feel dull without taking risks, and whether you succeed or fail, you’ll end up learning a lot and shining in your career. Follow your passion for development if that’s where your heart is!
Thank you, that means a lot!
It sounds like you're in a tough spot! I’d recommend looking at job openings that excite you. Check out companies that are hiring and get a feel for your market value. It might help to see what's out there that aligns with your skill set.
Yup, I will now!
How's that journey going for you?
