Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get some advice on choosing a new CPU. I currently have an i7 8700k along with 32 GB of DDR4 3200 RAM and a GeForce RTX 4080 Super, powered by an EVGA 750 Watt PSU. I've been playing Europa Universalis V, and it's surprisingly laggy with my current CPU. Other games run perfectly well, but this one is really challenging. My CPU is on the minimum requirement list for the game, which might explain the performance issues.
I've been considering the i7 14900k or 14700k, but I'm not super tech-savvy, and all the reviews I've read about clock speeds and voltages just confuse me. I'm not into overclocking—I would prefer to use a setup that runs well at factory settings.
Are these CPUs good options for my needs? Or do you have any other recommendations? I should note that I'm not a fan of AMD, as my experiences with ATI back in the day weren't great. Thanks for your help!

If you're gaming at 1440p or 4K, I think the i7 13700K would serve you well. Both the 14700K and 14900K might be overkill for your setup. If you mostly want smooth gameplay without diving deep into specs, the 13700K is a solid middle ground.

Thanks for your input! I actually have a standard 4K monitor, not a gaming-focused one, so I appreciate your recommendation!
