I'm not very knowledgeable about CPUs, but I've noticed that mine often maxes out while playing more demanding games, which leads to significant slowdowns. I'm thinking about getting a new one and I'm open to any price if it's worth it. Here are my current specs:
- 11th Gen Intel i7-11700F @ 2.5 GHz, 8 Cores
- 48 GB RAM
- Gigabyte B560 DS3H AC-Y1 Motherboard
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
Could anyone suggest good CPU replacements? Also, I'd love to know if my GPU or motherboard will still work well after an upgrade and not bottleneck the CPU. Thanks!

Check your GPU usage while gaming. If it's below 100% but your CPU is maxing out, then that's a sign you're likely playing at 1080p. I have a similar setup, and I didn't have issues with 1440p when I upgraded my GPU. Also, with 48GB RAM, it might be worth considering removing the 8GB sticks if you have two 16GB and two 8GB. Mixing RAM can cause performance issues, especially if they're not in the right slots.
It sounds like your CPU might be hitting its limit, especially during demanding games. However, I'd check how your GPU is performing too. Often, it can be the bottleneck instead. Just a heads up, any significant CPU upgrade will likely need a new motherboard and possibly new RAM since anything that's newer is not compatible with your current setup.

Yeah, I have 2x16 and 2x8. I guess I can test removing the 8GB sticks. I'm not too sure about the seating or 'dual channel' stuff. I ran a command prompt check, and it says the 8GB are in channel A DIMM 0 and channel B DIMM 0, while the 16GBs are in A DIMM 1 and B DIMM 1. Does that help?
