Looking for Endpoint Protection Solutions for Older Machines

I manage a small business with 13 computers, some running Windows 7, one on Windows 8, a few on Windows 10, and a couple on Windows 11. We also have a Windows Server 2016 for Active Directory. The problem is, our IT company isn't supporting us anymore, so I'm now handling things myself, but it's tough getting approval for new tech expenses. Our Symantec endpoint security license is expiring soon, and I've just been too busy to shop for alternatives. I did get a quote for Crowdstrike that was surprisingly cheaper than their own site, but now the company is unresponsive, and I'm stuck. I'm especially unsure about how the Falcon Sensor works with our old Windows 8 machine. Can anyone recommend endpoint protection for older systems while keeping under my $700 budget?

Honestly, endpoint protection is just one part of the issue you’re facing with these old systems. But it's definitely a step in the right direction given your constraints!

I get that, but I'm hoping to make some improvements wherever I can.

If possible, I’d suggest upgrading to Windows 11 across the board. Using Microsoft Defender with some additional features could really simplify security for you.

I would if I could. All machines are as updated as they can be for now.

Have you checked if you have a prime business account? That might help with discounts, especially with providers like Crowdstrike.

Ooh, we do! Thanks for the heads up!

Honestly, if you can, ditch the older versions like 7 and 8 for better options. ESET has been reliable, but they've announced they'll stop supporting 7 and 8 by the end of the month, so be aware of that.

Watchguard EPDR is a solid choice since it supports Windows down to 7, including 2008 R2. Just keep in mind that they dropped support for XP and 2003 this year, so Windows 7 may still be on the chopping block soon too.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into that.
